Travel day - Back in Cusco

After spending two night in Aguas Caliente, we took the train back to Cusco and returned for one more night at our Cusco hostel. If we haven't mentioned it already, the staff there was great. We left on the 5PM train and so arrived in Cusco around 8PM. Caught a taxi, which we had to walk to because there was a huge accident in front of the train station. I think the taxi driver told me that a lady had lost her leg in the street. It was awful. And that incident came on the same day as the bus/dog incident. We made it back to the hostel..it felt a little like coming home...knowing where and what was coming was satisfying. That also meant another meal at the lovely French style bakery located beside the hostel. That bakery is probably the reason why Diego, my picky eater, survived Cusco. [insert. Picture] We were all pretty exhausted after climbing around Machu Picchu for a second day. I think this is the place to mention that Apple Watch let me down a little at MP. I have NEVER IN MY LIFE CLIMBED SO MANY STAIRS. EVER. And Apple Watch did NOT fill in all my circles for either of my Machu Picchu days. Not cool, Apple Watch. So when we made it back to the hostel, ate a quick bakery snack and then the boys passed out. That left James and me to make our second  packing transfer (the first being separating out gear for Machu Picchu, as the train only allowed carry on luggage). Tonight we had to pack away our dirty, sweaty Machu Picchu clothes, separate our jungle clothing into the carry ons (the rain forest Eco lodge only accepts carry one as well), and then make sure all the suitcases  could hold all our Cusco loot and meet airline requirements. All this took surprisingly less time than anticipated. And so to bed early so we could get up early to take our plane (5th plane ride) to Puerto Maldonado and then onward up the Tambopata River to our Eco lodge...
