If you can't see the photos, click this link: https://goo.gl/photos/nZPWTSHLnA6C9RAJ7 This impressive ruin outside of Cusco was AMAZING. It was huge. Like, really, really big. You can kind of get a sense of the vastness from these pictures (stupid Google will only let me upload them like this for now!! And uploading them in this way takes forever as well, so that's convenient). It was a lovely introduction to the scale the Inca built in. This ruin sits perched on top of the Cusco...and is only 20 minutes away by cab. It is also conveniently located near 3 other ruins-- the pictures of those ruins may (or may not) be posted soon to this blog. I must say, though, by the time we made it to ruin 4 we were all a little tired. There is just a ton of walking up hill involved in this exploring thing. Aside: today as I was walking through the the jungle, I was thinking something along the same lines: this seeing the world thing is hard work. Definitely not for the faint of heart. But more on the jungle later. These ruins were originally a huge temple that was covered in gold and never completed...as it was in  progress when the damn Spanish invaded. Mateo made an interesting/ridiculous comment on our first explorations thought the ruins: "how could the Inca build all this and lose everything to a few Spanish men on horses? I think they lost it in a card game..."and so came his Inca Casino Theory. The theory which he was happy to expound upon through our walk in the ruins. Also the theory which made Diego go crazy..."No, Mateo that is NOT how it happened!" The ongoing debate was pretty funny...until somewhere near the 32 hill we had to climb...then not much was funny. If you want to learn more bout Sacsayhuaman (the actual name of the place, though it is pronounced "sexy Woooman"), check out this site: www.andeantravelweb.com
